After more than 30 years in education, my husband, Bob, and I sold our home in Big Rapids, Michigan, and all our belongings and have lived a peripatetic lifestyle since New Years 2015.

After spending ten years on the road, we’ve completed our goal of visiting all fifty states and all the Canadian provinces. We’ve visited several countries in the Caribbean and Central America. And in addition we’ve seen parts of twenty-nine countries of Europe. We’ve visited islands, beaches and mountains. We’ve been in countries where the people speak better English than in the United States and in countries where we’ve used smiles, gestures and drawings to make ourselves understood.
Retirement allows us to travel at a slower pace enjoying subtleties of what we see. We don’t consider ourselves tourists as much as temporary residents. We’ve learned that taking our time and spending extended periods of a month or two in one place, helps us get a better understanding of the culture we’re visiting. I know we are extraordinarily lucky to have the opportunity to lead the lives we’ve chosen. And while for the past several months, our travels have been limited to the United States, we remain hopeful that soon we will be able to pick up where we left off.
We’re having more fun than we ever imagined and meeting lots of interesting folks. I hope through my blog you’ll travel along with us. Your comments make our day. We look forward to hearing from you.
